Kerbside Recycling

The Invercargill Kerbside Recycling Depot was opened in 2003 after securing the contract to process the product collected from the residential areas of Invercargill City and the Bluff Township.

Once the product is brought to our site, it is sorted and then baled into each different type of product.   During the past year we have had 1823 metric tonnes of product shipped out to various parts of the world.

At this Depot we process Newsprint, Mixed Glossy Paper, Cardboard, Clear and Coloured Drink Plastic Bottles (No 1 Plastics), Milk Containers (No 2 Plastic), Janitorial Plastic Bottles (No 2 Plastic) and all other plastics that have a recycle 1 or 2 stamped on it, Steel Tins and also Aluminium Cans.

This product would have previously been put into landfill.

The recycling business has grown from having a staff of one supervisor, two staff and five employees to  two supervisors, two staff and eleven employees .

We are in the process of installing hoppers and self feeding conveyors to try and keep up with the demand of product coming in.

Business Collections

After recognizing a need for local business’s to have their recyclable materials collected or dropped off, Southland disABILITY Enterprises opened the Business Collections Depot, originally based in the old Port Craig Building on Tweed Street, but now at 119 Bond Street.

We can collect paper, cardboard, plastic, steel and aluminium cans from your place of business.   We also provide a confidential document shredding service for office papers.

We lease you a container to place these materials in, and pick it up when you advise that it is full.  Our charges are $7.50 per pickup with a monthly rental charge of $10.00 per bin.

Business Collections has a staff of 1 supervisor and 4 employees.

If you have product that you would like to recycle, then why not call Donna on (03) 214 5111
